Tert-Amyl peroxybenzoate Applications
Perodox® 127 Tert-Amyl peroxybenzoate serves as a key initiator in various polymerization processes
and finds applications across multiple industries due to its favorable decomposition characteristics.
Polymerization Initiator
Used for (co)polymerization of styrene in the temperature range of 100-135°C. Combinations with other peroxides reduce residual monomer content and increase reactor efficiency. Often used with more active initiators like dibenzoyl peroxide or tert-butyl peroxy-2-ethylhexanoate
High-Pressure Polyethylene (LDPE)
Functions as an excellent medium-temperature initiator for LDPE production, particularly in tubular or autoclave processes. Often used in combination with other initiators like tert-butyl peroxy pivalate (PV) or tert-butyl peroxy-2-ethylhexanoate (OT) for optimal results
Unsaturated Polyester Resins
Acts as a high-temperature curing agent for unsaturated polyesters used in fiberglass reinforced plastics (SMC, BMC, DMC), coatings, and adhesives. Provides ideal curing effects for molding and pultrusion processes
Acrylic Polymerization
Used in acrylic ester polymerization processes as an alternative to azo initiators, reducing resin toxicity. Also applicable in vinyl acetate polymerization
Rubber Industry
Functions as an effective vulcanizing agent for most rubbers (excluding isobutylene-based rubbers)
Fuel Additive
When added to petroleum products, it significantly increases cetane number, improving combustion characteristics.
