Tert-Butyl Peroxyneodecanoate - Perodox® 23
CAS: 26748-41-4
An initiator for the (co)polymerization of ethylene, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, (meth)acrylates and diethylene glycol bis(allyl carbonate) based optical monomers.
Product Overview
Perodox® 23 is an efficient initiator for the production
of Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE). It is used both for
tubular and autoclave processes. In most cases a
combination with other peroxides is used to ensure a
broad reactivity range. Perodox® 23 can also be used
for the polymerization of diethylene glycol
di(allylcarbonate) based optical monomers. The use
level of Perodox® 23 will depend on the particular cure
parameters being used. Perodox® 23 has an activity in
between peroxydicarbonates and tert-Butyl
peroxypivalate (Perodox® 25). Perodox® 23 can be
applied as an initiator for the suspension polymerization
of vinyl chloride in the temperature range 50-65°C. The
obtained polymer has a good thermal stability.
tert-Butyl peroxyneodecanoate (TBPND), also known as BNP or TBPD, is an organic peroxide compound widely used as a radical initiator in polymer chemistry. It serves as a medium-temperature initiator for various polymerization processes with excellent decomposition characteristics.

Tert-Butyl Peroxyneodecanoate Applications
Perodox® 23 TBPND is primarily used as an initiator for polymerization and copolymerization processes across various industries
LDPE Production
Effective low-temperature initiator used in tubular processes for producing low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Performs well when combined with other initiators like TBPV, TBPEH, and TBPB
PVC Manufacturing
Used in suspension polymerization of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), improving polymerization degree and particle morphology for high-quality PVC products
Unsaturated Polyester Resins
Reliable curing agent for unsaturated polyester resins (UPR), particularly effective in SMC processes for automotive parts and construction materials
Acrylic Polymers
Initiator for polymerization of acrylic acid and acrylate esters used in coatings, adhesives, and sealants
